Scottish art dealer and art historian in Lyon specialising in :

FRENCH SCULPTURE 1850 to 1950. What really interests me are original plasters and terracottas, unique bronzes and terracottas, directly carved marble and stone. I am less interested in collectors’ bronzes. I have a huge appreciation for the industrial aspect of French sculpture but feel this is seen at its best in public sculpture. I often sell to museums. FRENCH PAINTING 1850-1950. Academism – Still-lives and landscapes of the Lyon School – the Marseille colourists – La Jeune Peinture of the 1950s. Click on Peintres

WOMEN ARTISTS. I did a PhD on the seventeenth century Lyon engraver and painter Claudine Bouzonnet Stella and since have maintained a strong interest in women artists. It is an incredibly rich field, and even after increased recent academic and market attention, it remains understudied and undervalued, perhaps in part due to over-concentration on a few of the bigger names. For example, Camille Claudel is far from unique, she emerged as part of a wave of French women sculptors who preceded her, these are the artists I represent. Click on Femmes artistes

THE LYON SCHOOL. In the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries Lyon was an artistic powerhouse with a unique dynamic and aesthetic. It produced numerous talented painters and sculptors many of who remain unknown to a wider international audience. Click on École lyonnaise

FLOWERS. French flower painting of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries is unsurpassed, and at its heart was Lyon because of the Silk Industry. Click on Fleurs
